19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and recurring reactions on court had caused commentators to question if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

He saved 4 early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
